learning target

The first language target I should achieve as soon as possible is improving my fluency and clarity in speaking, both concerning spoken production and spoken interaction. Considering the fact that the only way to do it would be gaining a lot of experience in an English native country, at the moment what I can do is limited to class or individual activities, such as listening to music, watching films, reading books in English.
I would like also to improve my vocabulary because I think it is one of the most important elements to overcome difficulties in spoken fluency. Increasing this ability is quite difficult if you don't live surrounded by native speakers but, as I said before, I hope to be able to widen my knowledge by myself with the means that are available here.
I have just discovered that one of these means is blogging. I was not aware of the breadth of the blogosphere before our lessons, and I think that it will be quite useful to help me improve my vocabulary and competence in handling with an every-day, informal English.
In these weeks I did not too many individual activities to fulfill my targets: I have just watched half a film in English by myself. Anyway, on an academic level, I had the possibility to attend lessons in which we watched native-speaking films, then explained by native-speaking professors and I also read something from the professors' issues. Still, my efforts to understand movies is quite great, but I noticed I have been making progress in it since few months ago.
Hoping next weeks are going to be much more useful,

I say bye to everyone!

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Hey Sara, I think we have the same problems, that is, we have to improve our spoken interaction and production and we have to improve our vocabulary. I think that everybody in our class has the same problems. In fact, in our carrier we always have been required to write papers and thesis, without paying too much attention to our communication skills. Of course it's difficult for teachers to make all the students talk, but I think they should try to do it, because it probably is the most important ability we should develop. Well, this is our last University year, so maybe it's a bit late, but let's try to improve our English! It's the last chance, don't you agree?
